Captain Phil Harris from Deadliest Catch passed away yesterday, February 9, 2010. Captain Phil passed away from complications from a stroke he suffered on January 29, 2010. He was only 53 when he passed away, way too young! He was my favorite guy to watch on the show. He was a real inspiration and will be missed! I feel bad for his two sons, Jake and Josh Harris. I hope one of them will take their father's place as captain of the Cornelia Marie and continue his legacy. Both served as deck hands for the last several years on their father's ship and know it well. Either would do an awesome job running it!

Meeting Captain Phil and his sons in Redmond last October at a signing for his coffee line Captain's Reserve Coffee was really awesome! I just can't believe he is gone only 5 months after I shook his hand. I'm really glad to have been able to meet him before he passed away though and will never forget my experience.
